West Virginia Approximate Zone A HEC-RAS Model Data Download
Data files created by AMEC Earth and Environmental (AMEC)
ReadMe and metadata created by the
West Virginia GIS Technical Center (WVGISTC)

Description
The files in this download package contain raster digital
elevation models (DEM) for Approximate Zone A streams, buffer
polygons of stream DEM's, stream HEC-RAS models, and shapefiles
of cutlines and county-wide streams, where available, in select
West Virginia counties. The stream DEM's were extracted by AMEC
from a countywide subset of the USGS National Elevation Dataset
(NED). This download package was compiled by the WVGISTC.

Purpose
This data package may be useful to surveyors and/or engineers
seeking to create local base flood elevations (BFE). BFEs so
created may be a valuable contribution to Letters of Map Change
(LOMC), including Letters of Map Amendment (LOMA) and Letters of
Map Revision (LOMR). Some advanced knowledge, expertise and
specialized software applications are required in order to use
the included data.
